Over the course of two often-gripping series, the two main protagonists of this US political drama - Congressman Underwood (Kevin Spacey) and his wife Claire (Robin Wright) - are revealed to be increasingly unscrupulous megalomaniacs. Similarly to Breaking Bad, the viewer is torn between supporting them or not, as they sacrifice more than principles to achieve their goals. It's consistently superbly acted and scripted, and at times beautifully shot. The pace does slacken slightly in the first half of the second series. But the pieces are in place to ensure an enthralling finale.
